Are you licensed?
Yes, we are fully licensed with Lewes District Council for home boarding and this ensures we
meet the full health and safety requirements. Our license is free for anyone to view when they
visit. When you book with us, you can be sure your dog will stay with us – we never use host families.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured by a specialist pet care insurance agency. All documents are available
to view at our premises.
Are all dogs suitable for home boarding?
We can only accommodate dogs that are friendly, family dogs. We welcome all dogs, as long as they don’t suffer from separation anxiety, are obedient, non-destructive and non-aggressive and have a calm and gentle nature. We are unable to accept entire male dogs, incontinent dogs or dogs that chew furniture or other household items. If you are unsure about your dog’s suitability, please contact us, and we will be happy to discuss your dog, and if we can accommodate your needs.
How many guests do you accommodate?
We only have four guests at any one time - you can rest assured your pet will get the attention
they deserve.
Can I visit Delightful Dogs Hotel before the booking starts?
Yes please! A ‘Meet and Greet’ offers peace of mind, not only for you, so you know your dog is
in safe hands, but also for us. It’s a great opportunity to complete your dog’s pre-check in and
record details of vaccinations, meal times etc.
What does it cost to stay at Delightful Dogs Hotel?
Overnight guests are charged £45.00 / £50.00 per night.
Check-in /out time is from 08.00 to 18.00 Monday to Saturday & from 08.00 to 10.00 Sunday.
Overnight guests are asked to check-out on their final morning before 10.00. If you’d like to collect your dog after 10.00am, there will be an additional £45.00 / £50.00 charge (our overnight rate) as we would not be able to offer another guest accommodation on that day.
Bank holidays, Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve & New Years Day are charged at £90.00 /£100.00 per night.
Booking Confirmation
When we confirm your booking, we’ll ask you for a 30% (non refundable) deposit to secure your
dates. You can pay your deposit by bank transfer or cash. We ask that your deposit is paid within 7 days of receiving your booking details. If we do not get your deposit within the seven
days, we will offer your dates to other customers. We do not send out reminders. If for some reason you can not pay your deposit within the 7 days, please contact us by e-mail to discuss. The balance will be due before or when you check-in.
What do I need to supply for my dogs to stay with Delightful Dogs Hotel?
Please bring any necessary food for the length of stay. If your dog is on a special diet, please
provide instructions. If your dog likes treats, do bring them with you. Every dog staying at Delightful Dogs Hotel will be given their own collar tag for the duration of their stay. Please bring their collar, lead, bed and anything else you think will help them feel at home. We ask that we have all up to date details of your vets and any contact numbers should they be needed in an emergency.
What paperwork will I need to bring?
We also ask that all our guests are up to date with their vaccinations and flea treatment. We will
ask to see their vaccination card on arrival. It is also important that our guests’ vaccinations have been completed at least four weeks before the first date of boarding. We will accept a
veterinary certified titre test in place of vaccinations. Please provide the certificate before you
board your dog and ensure that it is valid for the total period of stay. We will also take a note of
your dogs’ microchip number.
How long can my dog stay for?
Our guests are welcome to stay for as long as they like.
How much exercise does my dog get?
We love our walks! There will be at least two walks a day. We would like to be able to take our
guests off their leads so if you are happy for that to happen we will need your full written consent. All our walks are on the South Downs (almost on the doorstep), they can also spend
time in our dog proof, secure garden.
Where will my dog be spending its time?
We are lucky enough to have a plenty of space. Downstairs we have a kitchen / dining room /
lounge area, living room, utility room, and 2 bedrooms. Our own dogs and our guests will have
the run of the house downstairs. Most of the time our guests will be out on a walk, playing in the garden or asleep in front of the log burner.
What would happen if there was a medical emergency with my dog whilst they are at our
Delightful Dogs Hotel?
It is important that our guests are looked after to the best of our ability therefore we have our
Dog First Aid Certificate as well as the following:
Firstly, we would make contact with you and or your emergency contact and then of course
seek veterinary advice immediately. This would either be through your own vet as advised, or
our emergency 24-hour vet depending on the severity. We would advise that your dog has pet
insurance to help with any costs that this may incur. All vet fees and any associated transport
costs will be charged to you.
If my dog is on medication can we still make a reservation?
Yes of course. We have very clear regulations about any medication. We are happy to administer medication as long as we have exact instructions on the label. All medication will be kept in a secure cupboard and only given when required.
Do you board young dogs?
We take dogs from the age of 6 months old (toilet trained).
What payment methods do we accept?
Currently we accept cash and bank transfer.
What is your cancellation policy and when do I pay?
Bookings for Delightful Dogs Hotel will be confirmed once a 30% deposit has been received
(deductible from the final cost of boarding). This is a non refundable deposit. If for any reason Delightful Dogs Hotel has to cancel your booking, you will be given at least 14 days notice (except in extreme circumstances) and your deposit returned to you.
What happens if I need to cancel my booking?
We understand that sometimes things don’t always go to plan. If you need to cancel your
booking our cancellation policy is as follows:
In the event of cancellations that are notified to us 28 days prior to the start of the booking
period, all fees less the non-refundable deposit, will be refunded, or held over for subsequent
bookings.
Bookings that are cancelled between 28 days and 48 hours before the start date of the booking,
will require 80% payment for services.
Bookings cancelled within 2 days of check-in – 100% of the fee is payable.
Can I collect my dog early?
Yes, certainly. If you return early, for whatever reason, and decide to collect your dog before
check-out this can be arranged. Please text or phone us in advance. No refunds will be due.
Do you have your own dogs?
Yes, we do have two fur babies. Hector (Flat Coated Retriever) is our happy, goofy, loving, and
sociable boy and Daisy is our tiny (Shih Tzu) who likes tummy rubs and cuddles on the sofa with
anyone that will sit down for long enough with her.
